What is Floor Finish?
Floor Finish is a liquid used to both "protect" and "pretty" your resilient tile floor.
Modern Floor Finish forms a "plastic" coating on your floor about as thick as a sheet of paper. Applied as a liquid, it seeks its own level and fills in some of the cracks and crevices of your floor and thereby smoothes out the overall appearance. It's a combination of this "smoothness" and the actual hardened "film" on top that produces "shine" or "gloss".
"Soft Finish" or "Hard Finish"?
"Solids" are the part of Floor Finish that is left after all the liquid has dried. Or in other words, what is actually left on the floor!
"Soft Finish" with a Low Per Cent of Solids tends to be soft, easy to work with and maintain with Standard Low Speed Buffers of 175 rpm. This is a good choice where frequent maintenance is available. In other words, where the floor gets dirty quickly and daily or weekly buffing is required.
"Hard Finish" with a High Per Cent of Solids tends to be hard, durable and usually requires a High Speed Burnisher of 1500 to 2000 rmps for best "high gloss'' results. This is a good choice for high traffic areas where maintenance schedules can be far apart. "Hard Finish" requires a little more care in getting it down properly but can last longer than "Soft Finish". Additionally, a higher gloss is possible with the use of the high speed burnisher.
