Gold Coarse Grit typically replaces conventional ANSI diamond abrasive grits 60 to 100 grit. 3M Trizact Diamond HX Discs Gold should be used when there is apparent wear or visible damage on the floor. Such damage might be caused by pitting from action of ice-melting agents or other chemicals. Scratches can occur by abrasion from movement of pallets or other heavy items, heavy foot traffic, or any other physical wear of the floor surface. Depending upon the condition of the floor, 3 to 8 passes are recommended. When the floor is smooth to the touch and wear marks are removed, or the visual appearance is acceptable, you can switch to 3M Trizact Diamond HX Discs Red. Typically, the number of passes with the 3M Trizact Diamond HX Discs Red can be reduced to 2 to 4 after using 3M Trizact Diamond HX Discs Gold. The recommended number of passes with 3M Trizact Diamond HX Discs Blue remains the same, at 6 passes. With more experience using the 3M Trizact Diamond HX Disc system, the number of passes may be adjusted for the condition of the floor and desired aesthetic appearance.

How long will a set of 4 discs last?
3M Trizact Diamond HX Disc life depends critically on use factors such as flooring type and condition, machine pressure and speed.
- Terrazzo: estimate 5,000 FINISHED ft2 (5,000 ft x 6 passes = 30,000 ft2 TOTAL)
- Concrete: due to variability in starting surface condition, estimate about 1,000 ft2 finished (1,000 ft x 6 passes = 6,000 ft2 TOTAL)
Suitable stone floor surfaces include, but are not limited to marble, terrazzo and polished concrete.
Follow these simple steps to a glossy finish:
- 1. Attach four 3M Trizact Diamond HX Red discs (Red backing, 27508 or 27509) to a 3M White Super Polish Pad 4100 in the 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 positions.
- 2. Make 4 passes with the 3M Trizact Diamond HX Red with squeegee up and solution on. 5th pass should be with squeegee down. 6th pass with squeegee up and solution on.
- 3. Attach four 3M Trizact Diamond HX Blue discs (Blue backing, 27507 or 27620) to a 3M White Super Polish Pad 4100 in the 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 positions.
- 4. Make 5 passes with the 3M Trizact Diamond Abrasive HX Blue with squeegee up and solution on. 6th pass should be with squeegee down.
- 5. Clean the floor with autoscrubber and water using the 3M Blue Buffer Pad 5100 to remove any remaining residue.
- 6. Make four passes using a burnisher and the Scotch-Brite Purple Diamond Floor Pad Plus.
- 7. Dust the floor using the 3M Easy Trap Duster.
- 8. Wet the 3M Easy Shine Applicator Pad with the Scotchgard Stone Floor Protector and then apply a thin, uniform coat of Scotchgard Stone Floor Protector to the floor using the 3M Easy Shine Applicator System. Allow 15 to 30 minutes of drying time. Burnish the floor with the Scotch-Brite Purple Diamond Floor Pad Plus.
- 9. Dust the floor using the 3M Easy Trap Duster. Apply a second thin, uniform coat of Scotchgard Stone Floor Protector using the 3M Easy Shine Applicator System. Allow 15 to 30 minutes of drying time. Burnish the floor again using the Scotch-Brite Purple Diamond Floor Pad Plus.
